It's September, Let's Go Gold!

Today I sat and reflected on how much has changed over the last several years. If you asked me 10 years ago what my plans were for the future, I would have told I was heading to law school. However, life has a way of redirecting you from what you have planned to launching you into your purpose. See, September 1st begins Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. It often gets overlooked, but we plan to change that. I was once like the millions of people who had no clue that there's a month dedicated to children with cancer. If you would have asked me what I knew about childhood cancer, I would have told you that I've heard of leukemia because of some children's books I read as a child. I really had no real knowledge of this disease. I'm going to assume that most people who aren't aware of the impact that cancer has on our children today is because they haven't been directly or indirectly affected by this horrible disease. I have met countless people who truly believe that they are making financial contributions to childhood cancer because they are supporting various adult cancers. This couldn't be further from the truth. Most people don't understand that there is a huge difference from funding, research, treatments and even types of cancer when it comes to children. Childhood cancer does not get the recognition, funding or research it deserves. That is why it has become our mission to spread the importance of childhood cancer awareness. Our children need better treatments and cures. Our children deserve a future and a fighting chance. Our children deserve a world that fights for them as much as we do everyone and everything else. That is why we Go Gold in September!
